2002 : JUMEAU-STOP (CARS , BUSES, Trucks)

Why ?

After studying road accidents, it is evident that a quick signal of an emergency breaking will cut down  the risk of car pile-ups.

The driver, following the vehicle doing an emergency stop, will be alerted sooner of the danger. As his reaction time is shorter, he has more time to avoid the vehicle, and also the car pile-up.

Industrial version :

The law allows for the hazard lights of a car to flash on and off. So, we will use the hazard lights to indicate the danger.

In the shape of a box, it will be fixed in the boot of the car and also to the chassis.

This invention was awarded with a gold medal in the "Security" category at the EUREKA inventors competition in Brussels in November 2002.

Principle :

A deceleration captor starts the system when it senses violent breaking.

The flashing will warn the vehicles behind of the danger.

The flashing will continue as long as the car is breaking.

Afterwards, it will work normally and indicate a normal breaking by a continuous light.
